Movement Is The Swiss Army Knife Of Health
Let me let you in a little secret that the healthcare system might not want you to know.
The number one solution to many chronic illnesses and diseases is...drumroll please...movement and exercise.
Why do you think the healthcare system wants to keep this secret? Now this is only my opinion, but it could be because the pharmaceutical industry is worth $24.6 billion dollars annually. It is a financial supplement to every doctor in Canada.
Now, pharmaceutical companies and and big corporations can’t be the only ones to blame. It is also us as consumers. We tend to look for that "magic pill," especially when it comes to our health. But, at the end of the day, easier is not always better.
The way I look at movement and exercise, is that it is a lot like a Swiss Army Knife for your health. Why, you ask? If you are familiar with the 1980's tv series, MacGyver, the Swiss Army Knife was MacGyver's tool of choice to solver many of his problems. Just like the Swiss Army Knife, exercise and movement can be used to solve many of our ailments and physical issues.
The current way of solving issues is to medicate and mask the true cause of the problem. For the majority of issues though, the first remedy should be proper nutrition and exercise. It the simplest, most effective form of treatment that has been around since humans have existed. So why is it so overlooked? It is because the healthcare system and people using it want the easy way out. Even though medication and masking issues might seem like the easy solution, the long term effects can be detrimental.
Now, I’m not saying that everything the medical industry prescribes is useless, but I do know that almost every treatment program a doctor prescribes, is often times more effective when combines with healthy lifestyle changes.
Your body is the vehicle that gets you through this life. It is at upmost importance you take care of it to the best of your ability. Whether you are in your 50's, 60's or 70's, it is never too late to start.
