One Small Change...

Making healthy changes in your life can be a little overwhelming.

As a mother of two wonderful children, I totally get it!

But instead of viewing your health as an all-or-nothing makeover, try incorporating little adjustments that compounded over time will have a MASSIVE effect on your health.

BE CONSISTENT!  

Consistently putting effort towards a goal is the easiest way to see success.  

It’s one thing to have a plan, but your follow-through is even more important!  

Success doesn’t happen unless both elements are in place.  

At the same time, most people find that accountability is key to making a fitness plan actually happen.

But when it comes to accountability, we can be our own worst enemies.  

We might talk ourselves out of a workout because we are short on time, not feeling well, or we just don’t want to miss that next episode of our favourite TV program.

One workout is missed, and then another… and another….and then we may as well quit because it’s just not the ‘right time’ for this in our lives.

Sound familiar?

If so, we need to truly examine our health goals and intentions.  

Things don’t just happen... 

We make them happen by CONSISTENTLY making fitness a priority in our lives.

Many clients tell us they feel so much better after a workout, so try to recall that feeling whenever you slip into old excuse patterns.

That feeling of well-being is truly the best motivation for keeping fitness appointments! 

However, you may also need to employ other sneaky techniques to stay on track.

Here are 3 things you can do to remain consistent:

  1. Many clients find it helpful to schedule all of their workouts at the beginning of the month, prioritizing them just as they would important work meetings.
  2. Others schedule fitness appointments with a buddy because cancelling a workout would also mean disappointing a friend, and most of us don’t want to do that.
  3. Others pre-pay for workouts because they are then more inclined to attend. They certainly don’t want to waste money and lose their investment!

At Vagus, we love to help our clients meet and surpass their fitness goals, and we like to celebrate those goals.  

‘High 5 moments’ could include a PR on a squat, a very first pull-up or just an increase in weights.

When clients are consistent in their workouts, we can look back to see where they were when they began their fitness journey.

We like to remind them of the gains they’ve made, and it is in those moments where we see the true magic of consistency!

IT’S NOT WHAT WE DO ONCE IN A WHILE THAT SHAPES OUR BODIES….IT’S WHAT WE DO CONSISTENTLY.
