Simplified Nutrition- Why Vitamin D

Most people know vitamin D to be the sunshine vitamin. It acts like a hormone in the body and causes the absorption of calcium, promoting healing and tissue repair. It you live in a climate where it is hard to get vitamins from the sun (Calgary in the winter!) supplementation is recommended. However, vitamin D can be found in these whole food sources as well:

Sources of Vitamin D:

  • Egg yolks
  • Butter
  • Salmon
  • Mackerel
  • Cold water fish and fish oil (tuna)
